Furniture pickups and cleanouts

Tell us about furniture, mattresses, household appliances, garage contents, storage or move-out cleanouts. For rental or business contents, identify the spaces to clear and the person authorized to approve removal.

Already outside? Curbside pickup

Group the agreed items outside at a safe loading point with suitable truck access. Describe any gates, long carrying distance or heavy items.

Still inside? Full service

Leave items in place for carry-out, loading and hauling. Show us the removal path, including stairs, elevators and narrow turns.

Which removal option fits?

Your city or trash provider may fit when your account and items qualify, you can prepare the required setout, and its collection schedule works for you.

Ask PVJR about private removal for items still inside, a mixed cleanout or a property handoff that needs coordination. Share your deadline so we can check availability.

City and provider rules apply to their programs. PVJR’s material and access requirements are separate: an item excluded by the city is not automatically accepted by PVJR.

Use the residential bulk route for eligible curbside items

Tempe’s residential bulk and green-organics route runs every other month by collection area. Call 480-350-4311 with your address to establish the collection week or ask about a separate, paid special pickup. Furniture, mattresses and small appliances without refrigerant are examples of bulk items. Paint, tires, refrigerators, rock and remodeling debris do not belong in the bulk pile.

Green organics are a separate collection. The program is for residents’ own yard work; hired landscapers cannot use a resident’s setout.[1]

Prepare separate piles and explain the loading route

Keep bulk items and green organics in separate piles at least four feet apart and clear of containers and utilities. Use the property’s normal curbside or alley collection location without obstructing the sidewalk, alley or manholes. Cut branches to no more than four feet; put small clippings in cardboard boxes or compostable bags.

For a private pickup, include where the contents sit, stairs or an elevator reservation, and any storage-facility access hours. Tell us if furniture still needs carrying from inside before you move it to an alley.[1][2]

Take household paint to the Tempe collection center

Tempe and Guadalupe households can take latex paint, oil-based paint, stains and thinners to the Household Products Collection Center at 1320 E. University Drive. Bring a current utility bill or driver’s license proving residency. Business-origin waste, including home-business waste, is excluded.

Transport containers in cardboard boxes in the trunk, rear hatch or truck bed, not in passenger seats or plastic bags. Stay in the vehicle while staff unload. Call 480-858-2223 about unusual containers or closures before a trip. This resident disposal option does not mean PVJR accepts or transports paint.[3][4]

What to include in your request

  • The complete address and item list, with belongings to keep clearly identified.
  • Where the items are and the route to the loading point.
  • Any access window, property deadline and authorized contact.

Photos are optional to start. We may ask for them or more detail to assess the job.

Items that need separate review

Connected appliances, heavy materials and unusual items need individual review. Removal does not include utility disconnection, demolition, repairs or property cleaning. Hazardous and biohazardous materials are not accepted.
